Kalia Aiwohi pitched well for Casa Grande, but Jessica Valencia pitched better for Montgomery in a North Bay League softball game last week.

Aiwohi, a freshman, limited Montgomery to six hits. However, Montgomery’s Valencia held the Gauchos to just two in beating Casa, 4-1.

Casa scored in the first inning of the well-played game, but it was to be the only run for the Gauchos. Montgomery tied the game with a run in the third and took the lead for good with a run in the fourth, putting the game out of Casa reach with two runs in the sixth.

Casa hits were by Alyssa Curtis and Michaela Western.

Valencia helped her own cause with two hits, including a double.
