Showdowns looming in Little League tournaments

District 35 Little League Tournaments finish this week.|

Petaluma teams continued to slug their way toward championship games in District 35 Little League all-star games Wednesday evening.

Majors

In Major League play, both Petaluma National and Petaluma Valley won on their home diamonds to set up an all-Petaluma winners’ bracket showdown Friday night at Carter Field on the Petaluma Junior High School diamond. Game time is 5:30 p.m.

The winner of Friday’s clash advances to the championship game on Sunday at 11 a.m. at Carter Field. The loser will have to fight its way back into the title game by playing Saturday at 11 a.m.

Petaluma National stopped hard-hitting Westside from Santa Rosa, 9-1, on Wednesday, while Petaluma Valley slugged Ukiah, 19-2.

Petaluma American was knocked out of the tournament Wednesday evening by a 10-1 loss to Rincon Valley.

Elevens

The 11-year-old division winners’ bracket happens tonight at Lucchesi Park with unbeatens Petaluma National and Petaluma American meeting at Lucchesi Park.

The winner goes directly to the championship game Saturday at 11 a.m. while the loser has to play Friday for survival at 5:30 p.m.

Petaluma Valley was eliminated Tuesday evening by Rincon Valley, 11-1.

Tens

Petaluma Amercan’s 10-year-old team has a big game tonight at the Rincon Valley Little League complex in Santa Rosa when it plays in the winners’ bracket semifinals against Santa Rosa American Little League.

Winner will play for the District championship Saturday at 11 a.m. at Rincon Valley. Loser plays at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

The Petaluma Nationals are still gamely trying to fight back through the losers’ bracket with a 9-8 win over Petaluma Valley Wednesday night. The Nationals play again tonight against Rincon Valley.

Petaluma Valley after losing its opening game to Petaluma American, 6-3, fought back through the losers’ bracket to beat Fort Bragg, 13-0, and Mark West, 15-4, before being eliminated by the Nationals.
