EMPIRE SOFTBALL: Three T-Girls named to large school second team

Three Petaluma High T-Girls – Emily Corda, Emily O’Keefe and Alexis Silinonte – were selected for the All-Empire Large School Softball second team.|

Although Petaluma High School tied for the Sonoma County League championship, not one T-Girl was placed on The Press Democrat’s Large School All-Empire Softball first team.

Two players from Analy’s co-champion Tigers, seniors Mackenzie Evangelisti and Saja Spearman, were named to the North Bay League-dominated first team.

Three T-Girls - Emily Corda, Emily O’Keefe and Alexis Silinonte - were selected for the second team.

Corda, an outstanding defensive outfielder, batted .311 with a team-high 28 hits in 27 games. She drove in 20 runs and scored 27. Among her hits were a team-leading eight doubles and two home runs.

Silinonte, who played several positions expertly for the T-Girls, led the team with a .456 batting average, collecting 26 hits in 22 games. She drove home 14 runs and scored 21, swatting four home runs and a homer.

Corda batted .311 with a team-leading 28 hits in 27 games. She scored 27 runs and knocked in 20. Among her hits were two home runs.

O’Keefe was one of two main Petaluma pitchers, compiling an 8-8 record with 71 strikeouts in 72 innings with just 31 walks.

She also was one of the team’s leading hitters, batting .391 with 25 hits in 26 games. She scored 15 runs and knocked in 19.

St. Vincent freshman Sully Henry was named to the Small School first team. In her first year of high school softball, Henry was a major factor in St. Vincent’s 10-0 North Central League II championship season. She batted .486 with 35 hits in 22 games. She scored 37 runs and drove in 19 with 11 doubles, two triples and a grand slam home run. She also was the Mustangs’ most durable pitcher, compiling an 8-6 record with 14 complete games.

Teammate Haley Antonini was placed on the second team. The senior led the team with a .529 batting average with 37 hits in 23 games. She drove in a team-high 34 runs and scored 40. She smacked three doubles, two triples and four home runs, one a grand slam.
