More than 1,000 runners will hit downtown Petaluma streets on Sunday for the Clo-Cow Half Marathon and 5K.

The event, now in its sixth year, features a scenic out-and-back course that starts and finishes on Kentucky Street, and takes runners on a tour of farm country west of town. Roughly half the participants will compete in the 13.1-mile half marathon, while others will run or walk the 5K distance.

Registration, which is subject to selling out prior to race day, is available at www.clocowhalf.com. All registered participants receive a well-supported course with aid-stations along the race route, tech T-shirt, chip timing, a highly coveted cowbell finisher’s medal, post-race food, plus other goodies from race vendors and sponsors.

Traffic and parking restrictions will be in effect in the downtown area and streets along the race route. Details will be announced prior to race day.

The event is organized by Chicken and Cow Productions and sponsored by Clover Stornetta Farms. The half marathon is part of the California Half Marathon Series and attracts runners from across the state. A portion of the proceeds benefit local nonprofit organizations, including the Petaluma Educational Foundation, Petaluma Health Center, North Bay Rowing Club, Sonoma State Rowing Club, Casa Grande cross country, and Casa Grande lacrosse.
