FALL SPORTS: Petaluma’s Catarozoli chases par at Rooster Run

Sarah Jane Catarozoli blistered the Rooster Run course for a 3-over-par 39 to lead Petaluma High to a 275-363 win over Sonoma Valley.

Her sister, Lilly Catarozoli, shot a 44. The duo’s efforts were enough to offset higher scores by their teammates.

Sammie Pencil with a 61 was the only Sonoma golfer to break 70.

Sarah Jane Catarozoli repeated her performance with another 39 later in the week at Rooster Run, leading Petaluma to a 253-308 win over Piner.

Lilly Catarozoli with a 47, Olivia Zimmerman and Mandy O’Keefe with 55s and Teresa McCaughey with a 57 contributed to the team win.

Montgomery defeated Casa Grande, 279-318, in a match played at Adobe Creek.

Natalie Masterson led Casa Grande with a 58, while Mia Cain and Kaelee Downing each shot 63. Jaxen Brazell took medalist honors for Montgomery with a 43.

Casa also lost last week to Cardinal Newman, 290-345.

Rose Dagnino led Casa with a 65, while Cain shot a 68. Cardinal Newman’s Natalie Justice was medalist with a 47.

Girls soccer

Amy Ferrick found the goal four times to lead Petaluma to a 7-0 Sonoma County League win over Piner.

Kendra Barry booted in two goals and Tessa Lamert kicked in one for the Trojans.

Casa Grande rallied in the second half to earn a 2-2 tie with Windsor in a North Bay League match played at Windsor.

Goals by Katie Bianchi and Madi Baer gave Windsor a 2-0 halftime lead, but Casa Grande battled back to tie the game on goals by Mia Santander and Angelina Gonzalez.

Neither team could score in two overtime periods.

St. Vincent blanked Calistoga, 5-0, in a North Central League II match. Grace Hosbein hit two goals to lead the Mustangs. Athena Edward, Lauren Vollert and Daniella Evans added one each. Assists came from Patty Chelini and Athena Edwards.

Siana Jimenez recorded the shutout in goal.

Volleyball

St. Vincent’s romp through the North Central League II continued with a 25-8, 25-9, 25-14 sweep of Roseland Collegiate Prep in a match played in Santa Rosa.

Analise Silva led the Mustangs at the net with 13 kills and also served three aces. Ali Fetter provided 16 assists and six digs while Alauna Kalehua had a good all-around game with five digs and three aces.

Casa Grande lost 3-0 in a North Bay League match played at Windsor.

Kylie Brandt led the Gaucho efforts with 13 kills and four assists, while Nadia Kaveh contributed 11 assists. Allison Post led Windsor with 17 kills and seven digs.

Gaucho troubles continued with a 25-21, 25-16, 25-18 loss to Ukiah.

Brandt had 11 kills and Kaitlyn Won 13 assists from the Gauchos.

Girls tennis

Santa Rosa defeated Casa Grande, 6-1, in a North Bay League match that was closer than the team score indicates.

Casa Grande’s No. 4 singles player, Skyler Cenelly, was the only Gaucho winner, defeating Santa Rosa’s Kayli Do, 6-1, 6-4.

However, the Guachos played their Panther opponents tough in several matches.

Casa’s No. 1 singles, Satvika Madadi, took Santa Rosa’s Emma Cuilfoil to three sets, winning the second set, 5-7, before losing in the third, 6-0. The Gauchos’ No. 1 doubles team of Danielle Rebuilda and Henny Evans lost to Elizabeth Chu and Sophia Markoff, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) and the No. 2 doubles team of Molly Zhou and Ashley Hancock battled the Panthers’ Grace Alchemy and Julia Pastis almost even, losing 7-5, 6-4.

Petaluma had very little trouble with El Molino in a Sonoma County League match played in Forestville.

Petaluma’s No.1, Grace Davis, and No. 2, Erica Gilmore, won their singles matches without losing a set, while No.4, Christina Lang, battled back to win over Seryna Bonacorso, 7-6, 6-3 after losing the first set, 6-3.

Petaluma swept doubles competition, with Mary Manzano and Diana Trueblood; Brooke Symons and Annie O’Neil; and Claire Allen and Frida Brox winning without losing a set.
