Petaluma’s Sarah Jane Catarozoli has for the third time in four years won the Sonoma County League golf championship.

Playing at Oakmont West, Catarozoli shot an 86 on the par-72 course, highlighting her win with a birdie on the par 5 No. 7 hole.

She also won the tournament as a freshman and a sophomore, missing only last year when she was third as a junior. The senior champion’s junior sister, Lilly, was second with an 88.

In regular league play, El Molino’s better-balanced Lions defeated Petaluma, 251-266 in a Sonoma County League match played at the Northwood Golf Course.

Sarah Jane Catarozoli shot a 42 and Lilly Catarozoli a 45, but all five of El Molino’s golfers either matched or bettered the scores of Petaluma’s final three players.

It was much the same story for the Trojans in a 243-291 loss to Healdsburg at Tayman Park. Sarah Jane Catarozoli shot a 46 and Lilly Catarozoli a 49, but no other Trojan broke 60. Tiffany Vanranken took meadalist honors for Healdsburg with a 45.

Ukiah had little trouble with Casa Grande, beating the Gauchos at Ukiah Golf Course, 266-318. Rose Dagnino led the Gauchos, shooting 58. Leetta Johnson led Ukiah with a 48.

Volleyball

Petaluma assured itself a second-place finish in the Sonoma County League and possibly a high seed in the North Coast Section playoffs by taking care of Analy 25-19, 25-20, 25-14, in a match played at Petaluma.

Sianna DeCarli led the Troujans with 13 kills. Grace Ghiradelli and Jordan Marshall each had eight kills.

The win improved Petaluma to 11-4 on the season and 8-2 in SCL play, with both league losses coming against Sonoma Valley.

Casa Grande made Cardinal Newman work, but finally fell, 3-1, in a tough North Bay League match.

Cardinal Newman won the first set, 25-13, but Casa came back to take the second, 25-21. It was close, but Cardinal Newman won the final two sets, 25-23, 25-22.

Kylie Brandt had a huge game for the Gauchos with 22 kills and 11 digs. Margaret Pieper had six kills, Kaitlyn Wong provided 17 assists and Kiley Cramer three blocks.

Natalie Codding had 34 digs and Megan Vice provided 30 assists for Cardinal Newman.

It was much the same story for the Gauchos against Maria Carrillo as they took the visitor four tough sets before losing, 3-1. Casa Grande won the first set, 25-23, before Maria Carrillo bounced back to win, 25-20, 25-20, 25-12.

Brandt led the Gaucho effort with 15 kills, while Makenna Mattei had six kills and Cramer seven. Wong had 16 assists and Alauna Rico came up with 18 digs.

For Maria Carrillo, Gabbie Icano had 10 kills and Ashley Jacob had nine kills and 15 digs.

St. Vincent made short work of Rincon Valley Christian in a North Central League II match, winning 25-13, 25-22, 25-16.

As usual, Ali Fetter and Sarah Calabrese led the Mustangs, with Fetter providing 20 assists and serving four aces, while Calabrese had 11 kills and served four aces. Ally Kropelnicki had four kil;s, served four aces and made three blocks.

Girls soccer

St. Vincent continued to kick its way through the North Central League II, defeating Roseland University Prep, 4-1, and Tomales, 6-1.

Grace Hosbein booted in two goals and Neila Gross and Alexa Evans had one each in the game against Roseland. Hosbein and Lauren Vollert each had an assist.

Hosbein and Vollert each had two goals against Tomales with McKenna Wilson-Kay and Julia Murphy scoring one each. Wilsoin-Kay had two assists and Hosbein one.

The wins improved the Mustangs’ NCL II record to 11-1-1.

Girls tennis

Petaluma continued its strong season, edging Sonoma Valley, 4-3, in a Sonoma County League match played on the Petaluma courts.

Petaluma took three of the four singles matches, with Grace Davis, Alaisa Barone and Christina Lange all winning. The match was decided when Petaluma’s No. 2 doubles team of Annie O’Neill and Frid Brox defeated Sonoma’s Hannah Chung and Olivia Weisige, 6-0, 6-4.

The win improved Petaluma’s record to 6-3.
