Both Petaluma and Casa Grande are competing this week in one of California’s biggest girls basketball tournaments.

The West Coast Jamboree, with 128 teams, opened Wednesday in gyms all over the East Bay. The tournament continues through Friday.

Scores from Wednesday’s first-round games were not available at press time.

Petaluma’s T-Girls are in the Garnet Division, and are playing at Berean Christian High School in Walnut Creek. Petaluma was to open Wednesday evening against Los Banos.

Other teams in the Garnet Division are Millennium, College Prep, Chester, San Domenico, Sequoia and Northgate.

Casa Grande is in the Sapphire Division, playing at Ygnacio Valley High School. The Lady Gauchos opened Wednesday against Bradshaw Christian.

Other teams in the Sapphire Division are Turlock, Amador Valley, Granite Bay, Deer Valley, Avalon and Ukiah.

New to the tournament this year is a West Coast Jamboree Challenge, which matches selected teams in single games that do not affect bracket play.
