Tough Tomales start to league play

Tomales took on two of the NCL II’s best to open league play and lost to Upper Lake’s Cougars, 85-39, and Technology’s Titans, 74-53.|

The Tomales High School boys basketball team stepped off into the deep end of the North Central League II pool last week, taking on two of the League’s best to open league play and losing to Upper Lake’s Cougars, 85-39, and Technology’s Titans, 74-53.

Upper Lake blitzed the Braves early in a game played at Upper Lake, getting off to a 30-0 first-quarter lead. Sophomore Andy Azevedo led the Braves with 15 points.

Playing at home, Tomales again trailed early to Technology and was never able to come back.

Senior Bryce Bianchi had a huge game for the Braves, scoring 23 points. Ricky Desantiago, Azevedo and Jake Fernandez added seven points each.

Tomales ended last week with a 5-8 record and an 0-2 mark in the North Central League II.
