Rancho Cotate eliminated the last Casa Grande hopes of making the North Bay League post-season tournament Tuesday night, defeating the Lady Gauchos, 59-34.

Playing on their home court, Rancho Cotate’s Lady Cougars erupted for 22 points in the second period to take a commanding 31-12 halftime lead.

The loss left Casa with a 5-8 league mark, two games behind Ukiah for the fourth and final spot in the tournament with just one game to play. The Lady Gauchos, now 13-12 overall, conclude the regular season at home Thursday night against league champion Cardinal Newman.

Cassidy McKinney led Casa with 10 points against the Ranch. Reilani Pettri and Camille Sparkman carried the Lady Cougars with 16 points apiece. Resurgent Rancho Cotate is 13-12 overall and 3-10 in league play.
