Tough week for T-Girls

It was a tough ending week for a young Petaluma girls basketball team that improved as the season progressed.|

Petaluma’s T-Girls had a tough ending to their Sonoma County League season last week, suffering a home loss to Healdsburg, 47-45, and then falling to Sonoma Valley’s SCL unbeaten champion Lady Dragons, 36-14.

Petaluma’s final home game of the season against Healdsburg was a heartbreaker with Petaluma leading at halftime, 24-19.

Healdsburg rebounded to tie the game at 34-34 after three periods.

At the finish, Healdsburg came up with key defensive stops to prevent the T-Girls from getting the tying basket.

Petaluma was pretty much out of its final game all the way at Sonoma, falling behind early and trailing at the half 15-3.

Petaluma wound up 9-18 overall and 5-7 in the Sonoma County League.

The T-Girls had just two seniors, Emily O’Keefe and Marcie George.

Juniors included Nichole Costa, Courtney Temple, Madeline Abramson and Kelsey Marin.

A talented sophomore group included Kaliegh Pate, Angelina Scaccalosi, Lilly Catarozolli, Ava Chabot and Jaden Krist.

Freshman Paris Buchanan made valuable contributions to the team, coached in his first season by Jon Ratshin.
