League wrestling tournaments Saturday

Petaluma looks for title in SCL wrestling tournament.|

Now that they know where they are going, Petaluma High School’s Trojan wrestlers are poised to complete their run to the Sonoma County League championship.

After some discussion, it was determined that the league meet will be held at Sonoma Valley High School, starting at 10 a.m.

This year was Piner’s year to host the meet, but construction at the school forced it to be moved. Petaluma volunteered to stage the meet, but it was decided to hold the event at Sonoma, the next site in the rotation for host.

Casa Grande will compete in the North Bay League Tournament at Maria Carrillo, also on Saturday.

Petaluma goes into the SCL meet unbeaten in SCL dual competition and needing only a first or second in the league meet to clinch the championship.

Also at stake in both tournaments are advancement to the North Coast Section championships, which go to the first three finishers in each weight class.
