Petaluma mat year ends at NCS

Petaluma’s championship wrestling season ends in North Coast Section Championships.|

Sonoma County League champion Petaluma qualified two wrestlers for the second day of competition but had no medalists in the North Coast Section Wrestling Championships held at James Logan High School in Union City.

Both Connor Pedersen at 126 pounds and Jack Reynolds at 132 pounds wrestled on the tournament’s second day and finished 2-2.

Charlie Winter at 115 pounds, Colton Prieto at 140 pounds, Liam O’Neill at 147 pounds and Eric Coats at 182 pounds were all also 2-2, but failed to advance to the second day.

Derrick Pomi at 170 pounds, Dominic Ayers (160) and Curtis Goughnour (154) were all 1-2 in the tournament, while Dan DeCarli (195) and Derek Honey (220) were 0-2.

Petaluma will lose Coats and Reynolds to graduation, but return 33 of this season’s wrestlers next year.
