Tennis

The Casa Grande boys tennis team had little trouble defeating Ukiah in a North Bay League match, winning 6-1.

The Gauchos swept everything else with Nico Carballal, Jason Goldblat and Justin Marion winning singles matches without losing a set. Mason Chiang combined with Sai Nadendla to win the No. 1 doubles match, and Ukiah forfeited the other two doubles matches.

Casa Grande followed up that win with a 6-1 defeat of Rancho Cotate.

Casa’s loss in that match came when Rancho Cotate’s outstanding No. 1 singles player, Joshua Wong, beat Carballal, 6-3, 6-0. Kompalli, Athreya Rangevalhula and Jason Goldblatt were all singles winners for the Gauchos. Justin Marion and Mason Chiang; and Manas Varma and Sam Fuller won doubles matches.

St. Vincent’s co-ed team lost to Anderson Valley, 3-2. Grace Hosbein, at No. 1 singles, had a great match with Anderson Valley’s Mathis Wegrick, pulling out a 6-0, 2-6, 7-5 win. Anderson Valley won at No. 3 singles and swept the doubles competition for the team win.

The Mustangs followed up with a 4-1 loss to Rincon Valley Christian. Highlight for the Mustangs was Hosbein’s 6-3, 6-4 win over RVC’s No. 1 Andrew Cantrell.

Swimming
