Casa girls rally to win NBL softball opener

The Casa Grande girls softball team continued on a roll Tuesday afternoon, scoring four runs in the sixth inning to defeat Montgomery, 8-7.|

The Casa Grande girls softball team continued on a roll Tuesday afternoon, scoring four runs in the sixth inning to defeat Montgomery, 8-7, in the North Bay League opener for both teams.

Montgomery rallied for three runs in the top of the sixth before Casa battled back for the winning rally in the bottom of the inning.

The win was the second straight for the Lady Gauchos, who are now 4-2 on the season.

Casa Grande won with offense, pounding out 17 hits.

Christina Wilson, Alex Lyons and Katie Machado led the bat parade with three hits each. Wilson slugged a pair of doubles and Machado drove in three runs.

Alauna Rico and Presley Ruoff each had two hits.

Kalia Aiwohi and Machado shared pitching duties, with Machado getting the win, allowing three runs, two earned, with four strikeouts in three innings.
