The junior racquetballers from the Petaluma Valley Athletic Club junior program finished their time at PVAC with a bang.

Three players attended the Northern California Junior Racquetball Championships held in Burlingame.

Spencer Foote took second place in both the 8-and-under multi-bounce and 8-and-under single bounce.

Ava Naworski finished second in the girls 10-and-under.

Heather Mahoney finished second overall in the girls advanced group and first in the girls 14-and-under.

PVAC coach Brian Dixon was the co-director of the event.

The Southern California Junior Championships were held in Fountain Valley. Mahoney competed in the girls advanced as well as boys 14-and-under class. She was not challenged in the girls division, becoming champion, and finished second in the boys 14-and-under.

Playing for the last time as a PVAC representative, Mahoney competed at the state adult singles championships. She played very tough, barely missing making it to the final of the open division. She did win the women’s A division.

The junior racquetballers are now practicing at the Callinan Sports Facility in Rohnert Park. The class will be offered as a junior challenge in the summer, and as a full class in the fall to Southern Sonoma County juniors.

Currently, the tournament players are preparing for the Junior Nationals to be held in Stockton in June.
