T-Grils rally in seventh to beat Sonoma in SCL tournament game

Petaluma High School’s T-Girl softball team scored two runs in the last of the seventh inning of a SCL tournament semifinal game to reach the championship contest against Analy.|

Petaluma High School’s T-Girl softball team rallied from behind with two runs in their last chance to defeat Sonoma Valley, 6-5, Wednesday afternoon in the first round of the post-season Sonoma County League Tournament being played at Analy High School in Sebastopol.

Petaluma will face tournament host Analy, the SCL champ0ion, for the tournament championship this afternoon at 4 p.m. Analy beat Piner, 6-4, in the first round.

Wednesday, Sonoma Valley pushed across a run in the top of the seventh inning to take a 5-4 lead.

In the bottom of the inning, Alexis Silinonte singled, Chandler Nevis reached on an error. A sacrifice bunt advanced both runners. Jaden Krist drove home the tying run with a sacrifice fly and Nevis raced home with the game winner on an error.

Krist also earned the pitching win, working in relief of starter Ava Chabot. She worked 2 2/3 innings, allowing a run on two hits and a walk.

The sophomore was one of four T-Girls to have two hits in the game, joining Silinonte, Indya Smith and Kaleigh Weiand.
