The Petaluma junior varsity made Egg Bowl Saturday an all-around good day for the Trojans, rallying in the second half for a 29-18 win over the Casa Grande JVs.

Petaluma led at the half just 14-12 on the strength of a 2-point conversion run by Lucas Cheda, before relying on its defense in the second half.

Both teams scored twice in the initial half. Petaluma touchdowns came on a 41-yard scamper by quarterback Justin Plumtree and a 14-yard run by Cheda.

Casa Grande countered on a leaping catch by Kobe Krnaich of a 20-yard pass from Miguel Robertson and 7-yard run by Krnaich as time expired at the end of the half. Petaluma stopped a running try for the conversion to hold a 14-12 lead at the half.

Petaluma upped its lead late in the third period on a 22-yard touchdown run by Plumtree followed by the quarterback passing for a 2-point conversion.

Casa Grande again countered with a 23-yard touchdown pass from Robertson to Austin Miller to keep the game close at 22-18.

It wasn’t until late in the fourth period (about four minutes left) that Petaluma was able to put the game away on a fourth-down pass of 29 yards from Plumtree to Luis Lozano.
