T-Girls go dry at finish

Petaluma High’s T-Girl basketball team falters in the fourth quarter in loss to Rancho Cotate.|

Petaluma’s T-Girls went dry in the fourth period last week, losing their final tune-up prior to the start of Sonoma County League play to Rancho Cotate, 55-45.

Rancho Cotate sizzled for 21 first-quarter points, but the T-Girls hung on, reaching halftime down just 31-27. Petaluma continued its high scoring in the third period and went into the last quarter trailing just 44-43.

However, the T-Girls scored just two points in the final period, losing their fifth game with eight wins.

Sheriene Arikat led Petaluma with 12 points, while Nichole Cota added eight, Angelina Scaccalosi seven, Jaden Krist six and Kaileigh Pate five.

Petaluma was to have played its first SCL game Wednesday night at Healdsburg and will play Friday at home against El Molino.
