Petaluma wrestlers continue unbeaten in SCL competition

Curtis Goughnour, Nick Trave and Mac Shattuck all took first place in their weight class.

Chris Olvera and Liam O’Niell captured seconds.

Daxton Hogya, Joe Yeriorn, Tony Vitali, Lukas Bettencourt and Joe Grob finished third.

Asher King and Nathan Groth took fourths.

Dante Ratto, Jakob Bettencourt and Mario Zarco all finished fifth.

For the girls, Cindy Diaz and Brooklyn Shattuck were both winners.

Logan Pomi, Sarah Markovich and Citalle Caderon came in second and Sunshine Sather finished foufrth.

In the Tim Brown junior varsity tournament in Sacramento, Connor Pedersen placed seventh with a 6-2 record.

Charlie Winter wrestled well; he went 3-2, but was a match away from placing.

Trave, Shattuck, Goughnour, Vitali and Pomi competed well, but did not advance to the second day of the tournament.

In a Sonoma County League dual meet last week, Petaluma easily held off a challenge from Sonoma Valley, 66-12.

Winter at 120 pounds, Shattuck (126), Bettencourt at (132), Pedersen (138), O’Niell (145), Goughnor (152) and Vitali at (160) were all pin winners for the Trojans.

Trave at 106 pounds won by a tech fall, 17-1 over Wyatt Pagh.

Pomi at 170 pounds took a tough 4-3 decision over Mario Coronado.
