PHS wins, Casa loses MLK games

Petaluma wins and Casa loses traditional Martin Luther King girls basketball games.|

Area girls basketball teams had mixed results in their annual Martin Luther King Day games. Petaluma, playing at home, beat Northgate, 52-37, while Casa Grande lost to Redwood in Marin County, 47-42.

Petaluma, after taking an early advantage, led Northgate 24-20 at the half before putting the game away in the second half.

Jaden Krist led the T-Girls with 13 points and 12 rebounds, while Sheriene Arikat matched the point total and pulled down seven rebounds.

Petaluma won the junior varsity game, 40-18.

Playing at Marin Catholic High School, Casa Grande charged late after trailing throughout the second half, but fell short.

Mia Cain led Casa Grande with 17 points and Trinity Merwin had 16.
