The Casa Grande High School boys basketball team brought its season to a finish last week with a satisfying win and an expected loss.

The Gauchos played well in beating Rancho Cotate, 59-56, in their last home game of the season. Two days later, their season ended with a 67-52 loss at Cardinal Newman.

Ian Cerruti, who has been the Gaucho leader over the second half of the season, led the win over Rancho Cotate’s Cougars, scoring 19 points and hitting three bombs from behind the arc. Josh Jovick knocked down a pair of treys and scored 12 points, while Garrett Siebels added 11 points.

Connor Barbato carried the Cougars with 26 points.

Casa Grande stayed with Cardinal Newman through the first quarter in its final game in Santa Rosa, but the Cardinals busted loose for 23 points in the second period to pretty much decide things.

Siebels led the Gauchos with 15 points, while Cerruti added 11.

Christian Jextrum led a long list of Cardinal Newman scorers with 12 points.

Casa Grande finished the season with a 9-17 overall record and a 5-9 NBL mark.
