Casa and Petaluma girls meet in the first round of the NCS playoffs

Petaluma has just two teams involved in the North Coast Section basketball playoffs. After Tuesday night, there will be only one.

Petaluma and Casa Grande high schools were both selected to the Division 2 girls playoffs. They will meet Tuesday night at Petaluma High School in the first round of the playoffs with tipoff at 7 o’clock.

Casa Grande with a 14-12 overall mark and a 6-8 North Bay League record, is seeded No. 8, while Petaluma, with a 23-5 overall record and a 12-0 Sonoma County League mark is the No. 9 seed. Casa Grande received the higher seed based on its stronger overall schedule and its 43-31 non-league win over Petaluma earlier in the season.

Petaluma earned the right to host the game by winning its league championship.

The winner’s reward is an opportunity to play No. 1 seed Miramonte (22-4). That is if the Lady Matadors can get by Washington of Fremont (11-15) in the opening round.
