It began with simple signs in store windows letting customers know they’d be closed for a week or two. The wording in those signs soon changed, as the coronavirus shelter-in-place stretched from weeks to months. It did not take long for other signs to begin popping up around town, in windows, on walls, chalked onto sidwalks, hung from fences, or propped up on sticks in front lawns, as the folks of Petaluma did what they often do during times of crisis (from fires to power outages to, well, to this): they made something interesting out of it. Here are several signs, and artistic expressions - some funny, some heartbreaking, most of them upbeat and inspirational - that we’ve seen in and around Petaluma since this particular crisis started.
