Ya gotta love 'em

A teacup of homeliness from Hanford in the Central Valley devoured all competitiors at the Sonoma-Marin Fair on Friday evening to become the World's Ugliest Dog.

Judges and spectators agreed the clear winner was Yoda, a scrawny, bedraggled, 1.8-pounds of canine visual misfortune. The prize was $1,000 and a trophy that is much bigger than the winner.

Her master, Terry Schumacher, said she had considered bringing the at least 14-year-old Yoda to the Petaluma contest before, but she couldn't get away from her job.

This year, she was able to come to the contest with the dog and her 15-year-old daughter, Nicole, because now she owns her own business.
