Your Weekend: February 15-February 18

Four full days of Petaluma-sized fun|

THURSDAY

MATT RIESCHLING AND THE BLACK BOX

This family friendly band plays covers and originals, and considers it an honor to play great music while people jump up and shake their booties. These folks take bootie-shaking very, very seriously. 4:20 p.m. No cover. 1280 N. McDowell Blvd. Lagunitas.com

FRIDAY

THE REV. SHAWN AMOS

He sings the blues, he wears snappy suits, and he preaches the gospel of goodness, kindness and human decency. He’s the Rev. Shawn Amos, and his new album is “The Rev. Shawn Amos Breaks it Down,” a magnificent, richly varied, deeply emotional (and downright fun) CD that will be celebrating its official release at the Mystic Theater. 8:30 p.m. $15. The Mystic Theatre, 21 N. Petaluma Blvd. Mystic?Theatre.com.

CITIZEN FLANNEL

The fun-loving 90s-era tribute band with an alternative rock style and a knack for making shy people dance like no one is watching plays the Big Easy for an evening of covers from such bands as Green Day and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. 7:30 p.m. $5 cover. 128 American Alley. BigEasyPetaluma.com.

THE POYNTLESS SISTERS

The popular dance band makes its Red Brink debut from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. With their fully choreographed, visually and technically dynamic show, the “sisters” bring plenty of of glitz and glitter to the stage. 101 2nd Street. RedBrickRestaurants.com.

SATURDAY

ALTERBEAST and GRINDMOTHER

Don’t you just LOVE the names of the bands that play the Phoenix Theater? To many Petalumans, the band names that regularly appear on the Phoenix marquee are a whole genre unto themselves. People actually note, upon hearing some odd phrase like “Bunny Hammer” (an actual video game) or Pink Popsicle Apocalypse (we just made that up), “Wow! Sounds like the name of a band that would play the Phoenix!” Anyway, this weekend, the Phoenix welcomes Sacramento bands Alterbeast and Grindmother. The latter is a hardcore band from Ontario, Canada, fronted by a 68-year-old metal-head grandmother who also goes by the name of Grindmother, and whose debut album is titled “Age of Destruction.” The former, Alterbeast, are purveyors of a musical style they describe as “Tech Death Powerhouse,” which, come to think of it, would be a great band name. If such a band turns out to exist, it’s only a matter of time till they get their name up on that marquee at the Phoenix Theater. 7 p.m. $14 - $17. 201 E. Washington St. ThePhoenixTheater.com.

SUNDAY

PATRICK BALL’S CELTIC HARP & STORY

The Bay Area’s acclaimed bard of the Celtic harp will be appearing at Cinnabar Theater for an evening of masterful music and spoken-word folklore. 7:30 p.m. $25 (in advance), $30 (at the door). Cinnabar Theater, 3333 N. Petaluma Blvd. CinnabarTheater.org.
