An 18-year-old Petaluma woman was arrested early Thursday on suspicion of drunken driving after running a red light, ramming into a car and fleeing, police said.

Anessa Sablan was booked into Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of a felony hit and run and a DUI causing injury, according to jail records.

Shortly after 9:50 p.m., a witness called police after Sablan ran a red light on 6th Street and broadsided the passenger side of a Subaru that was headed west on D Street, Sgt. Rick Cox said.

The crash caused the Subaru to flip onto its roof while Sablan fled in her black 2000 Volkswagen Jetta, Cox said. Petaluma Fire Department personnel helped the Subaru’s occupant, a 34-year-old Petaluma man, from the car, Cox said.

The driver, who police would not name, was treated on scene for pain, Cox said.

Using a license plate from the Jetta, officers attempted to contact Sablan and family members. About 12:20 a.m., Sablan called police from the parking lot of Grant Elementary School to turn herself in, police said.

Sablan, who was not injured, registered a .08 blood alcohol content, Cox said.

The crash closed the intersection for about an hour, Cox said.
