Kentucky Street eateries, as pictured in 1961 Petaluma

Historic Eats: A look back at long-lost local restuarants|

As an early thriving business district, Kentucky Street has always been a foodie hub of Petaluma. As you can see, it remains largely the same as it was when it was pictured here in 1961, albeit with a different mix of businesses. Look closely and you can see popular resturants Central Club and Cafe, Wakefields Tap Room and Cafe, Palace Club, King’s Creamery and Marion’s Tap Room, alongside Herold Drug Company, Sarro’s Surplus Sales and Wilson’s Furniture. This photo was taken in the 100 block of Kentucky Street, looking south.
