A Petaluma man was arrested early Saturday morning on suspicion of injuring a Petaluma officer while resisting arrest, police said.

Jeremy Crowley, 21, was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County jail, Petaluma police said in a news release.

Around 2:11 a.m., an officer on patrol heard metal crashing and an alarm sounding in the back of a building in the 100 block of Petaluma Boulevard North, police said.

Four people who were spotted on the roof of the four-story building fled down a nearby alley after an officer shined a spotlight on them, police said.

Three people stopped when officers contacted the group, but a man, later identified as Crowley, put his head down in a “tackling-type position” and charged at an officer, police said. Crowley, who police say had been drinking prior to the confrontation, and the officer fell to the ground, both sustaining facial injuries, according to police.

Neither Crowley nor the officer, whose name was not released, required medical treatment, police said.
