In wake of recent events, students at St. Vincent de Paul High School have decided to enforce their school-year theme “Care For Our Common Home” by reaching out to a community close to their hearts.

Students and families of Middletown High School, a close rival to St. Vincent in years past, have been completely devastated by a mass fire that has destroyed a large majority of the town. Approximately 1,000 homes have burned down in what is known as “The Valley Fire.”

Petaluma as a whole has made an enormous effort to support Lake County families with donations, sorting clothes and starting fundraisers.

St. Vincent students have decided to take on the fire devastation in several ways.

This week, The St. Vincent Mustangs are starting a movement called “Mustangs helping Mustangs” to help the Middletown High School Mustangs as well as the entire town. St. Vincent students are hosting bake sales at every home sporting game this week.

Additionally, Friday, students will host a breakfast for students from both the high school and St. Vincent Elementary School with all proceeds given to the Red Cross to help support victims of the fire.

The St. Vincent High School community is asking for donations to support those affected or fighting the fire. Students will be standing outside of the high school, 849 Keokuk St. every morning before the bell rings to collect donations. Checks can be made out to St. Vincent de Paul High School

Help the Mustangs help the Middletown Mustangs.
