Loss to Rancho costs Casa girls

A stumble at Rancho Cotate cost the Casa Grande girls basketball team an opportunity to participate in the North Bay League post-season tournament, but the Lady Gauchos still have basketball to play.

Casa was upset by Rancho, 57-39, and concluded its season with a loss, as expected, to NBL champion Cardinal Newman, 66-29, last week.

The defeats left Casa Grande with a 6-8 NBL record, the same as Rancho Cotate, but since the Lady Cougars had beaten Casa twice, they received the fourth and final slot in the league playoffs.

However, Casa, at 14-12 overall, pretty much is assured a spot in the North Coast Section Division 2 playoffs. The Lady Gauchos are currently ranked No. 8 in the division, with the top 16 teams moving on to NCS.
