There is still time for young sluggers to get in on the fun of the Home Run Derby sponsored by the Trevor Smith Memorial Foundation.

The derby will be held Sunday, April 15 at the Petaluma Little League’s home diamond at Lucchesi Park, where Smith played before his untimely death in a traffic accident in 2012. He was 13.

Participants may register at Trevorsmithfoundation@yahoo.com. They may also register at the park starting at 9 a.m. on the day of the event.

The Home Run Derby is held in remembrance of Smith, who touched many lives with his vibrant personality, infectious smile and ability to make everyone feel included.

Funds from the event will be used to provide scholarships for athletics, drama and education.
