A man killed following a crash last week on a rainy night in Lake County was identified Tuesday as a young Kelseyville man.

Matthew Dupler, 21, died Thursday after he lost control of his 2000 Hyundai Elantra and crashed into a tree, reported the CHP.

The crash was reported at 10:20 p.m.

Dupler had been driving west of the Rodman Slough, along the Nice-Lucerne cuttoff at the northern end of Clear Lake.

Suffering from major injuries, he was freed from the wreckage and taken by ambulance to Sutter Lakeside Hospital, where he died.

Dupler was wearing his seat belt and the CHP had reported alcohol didn't appear to be an issue.

The cause remained under investigation Tuesday.
