The Butter & Egg Days Parade’s annual Cutest Lil Chick Contest starts at 10:15 a.m. April 25 in front of Copperfield’s Books, 140 Kentucky St.

Hosted by Petaluma Farms, the contest is for children from ages infant to 5 years old. Participants should wear a chicken-themed costume that goes along with the theme of the parade, which this year is “Petaluma: Fertile Ground.”

A panel of judges will select a winner based on originality, detail and completeness and the poultry theme.

The grand prize is four tickets to Discovery Kingdom and $50. Second and third place also receive a prize. After the contest, the participants and their parents are invited to ride on the Cutest Lil Chick float in the Butter & Egg Days Parade.
