The 36th annual Butter & Egg Days Parade steps off at noon Saturday, April 29 in downtown Petaluma.

The theme this year is “All Aboard! Next Stop Petaluma,” which highlights how the railway shaped Petaluma’s past as well as its future.

Parade day features a variety of activities, beginning at 8 a.m. with the Petaluma 7-11 Lions Club hosting a pancake breakfast in the parking lot between Putnam Plaza and Water Street. Tickets are $7 and French toast, sausage, eggs and orange juice will be served until 11 a.m.

Butter & Egg Days Parade events span from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and include a cow-chip toss, “Cutest Lil Chick Contest,” food, children’s activities, beer gardens and live music.

Sonoma Marin Area Rail Transit will also have its new train cars on display from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the station at the Petaluma Visitors Center on Lakeville Street near East Washington Street, with SMART staff on hand to answer questions.
