Some workers representing the Golden Gate Bridge Labor Coalition will be staging a picket near the Golden Gate Bridge toll booths Tuesday, although both union and transportation officials said it would not likely affect bridge, bus or ferry commuters.

The coalition of workers, which includes bus mechanics, deckhands, structural engineers and ferry captains, have been in negotiations with the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District over issues such as pay and health care premiums.

Representatives of the Machinists Union said Monday it would stage the strike for one day and expected about 50 workers to take part in what was deemed a limited protest.

However, some members of that union, in particular the Teamsters, who move lane markers for the afternoon and morning rush hours, would report to work Tuesday to prevent any significant commuter traffic backups.

A press release by the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District said it has been negotiating in good faith with the Union Coalition on a weekly basis since April 2014.
