Petaluma’s Social Club had its liquor license yanked last week, apparently for not paying taxes, temporarily closing the restaurant.

A notice posted by the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) states that, as of Sept. 25, Social Club’s liquor license was suspended “indefinitely.”

However, a signed posted several days later by the restaurant’s management said they planned to open again on Oct. 1.

According to ABC, the license was suspended by the state Board of Equalization (BOE). BOE spokesman Brian Miller said matters of tax payments are confidential, but added that the department can pull a restaurant’s liquor license if it has not paid its taxes in three months or more.

The restaurant did not return repeated calls for comment.
