The sun is expected to shine and temperatures to soar this week, but by Friday a Pacific Northwest cold front is forecast to move over the North Coast, bringing showers that will likely make for a very wet night of trick or treating.

Intermittent rain is expected Friday afternoon, but heavy showers are expected by nightfall, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures will be mild, in the low to mid 60s, and rains should taper off by Saturday morning, with only a few lingering showers. Total rainfall should be more than half an inch in inland areas and more than an inch in the coastal mountains, said National Weather Service forecaster Bob Benjamin.

The last wet Halloween was in 2012, when .15 inches fell in Santa Rosa.
