The Petaluma Fire Department recorded 43 medical calls and 94 emergency calls during the week of Oct. 3 through Oct. 9. Here are a few of those reports, and other recent incidents:

SATURDAY, OCT. 8

6:01 p.m. - Petaluma firefighters received reports of a vehicle accident that had sparked a fire in a grassy area on the side of the roadway on northbound Highway 101 near the Petaluma Boulevard North onramp. A full wildland response was dispatched, and crews worked with firefighters from the Rancho Adobe Fire Department to extinguish the vehicle fire and the flames in the surrounding grass. The two passengers in the solo vehicle accident weren’t injured. The cause of the fire and the accident are under investigation.

SUNDAY, OCT. 9

1:38 p.m. - Personnel from the Petaluma Fire Department responded to reports of a debris fire at Leghorn Park at 690 Sonoma Mountain Parkway. Crews quickly put out a small fire that was found burning in a metal bucket near the entrance to the restrooms. No surrounding property was damaged, and firefighters were unable to determine the cause of the blaze.

10:13 p.m. - Petaluma firefighters responded to a reported trailer fire just south of the Lakeville Street onramp on southbound Highway 101. Crews found a mobile home that was being towed by a moving company was “well involved,” with flames emanating from under the trailer’s axles and engulfing the rear and the attic areas of the unoccupied and unfurnished unit. The moving company disconnected the trailer, and personnel from CalFire and Wilmar Volunteer Fire Department assisted Petaluma firefighters with putting out the flames, which caused an estimated $41,000 in damage. When the blaze was out, firefighters helped California Highway Patrol, CalTrans and crews from the moving company to move the mobile home off the freeway before checking for leftover hot spots.
