Poll: Donald Trump, by a hair, for president

A plurality of respondents in an online Argus-Courier poll said they would vote for Republican candidate Donald Trump in the Nov. 8 presidential election. Nearly 40 percent said they are backing Trump while almost 30 percent said they are voting for Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, and more than 20 percent said they support Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson.

Here are some comments, a majority of which favored Trump:

“Trump is our only hope to keep the 2nd Amendment, and the Supreme Court on an even keel.”

“Hillary has a 30-year history of lying and political corruption on a global scale, all for personal gain and political power. She has put everyone of us at risk by her secret personal email server, trafficking in national top secrets and then is arrogant about it. She scares the heck out of me.”

“I can’t stand either candidate, but I can only hope Trump takes our country in a better direction.”

“I will vote for Gary Johnson. This will be the first time in 50 years that I have not voted for a major party candidate in a federal election. I am tired of the lies and the bullying. If you are too, check out Gary.”

“My vote will not be a vote for Hillary, but a vote against Trump. The best candidate was Bernie Sanders. Too bad America didn’t wake up. But that is typical of a disengaged population. The disgusting part of U.S. elections is the people who do not register or vote. There is a blank space that a candidate’s name can be written in if none of the others measure up. Then again, maybe there should be a space that says ‘None of the Above.’ I wonder how often ‘None of the Above’ would win.”
