A majority of respondents in an online Argus-Courier poll said that they do not use the play equipment in Petaluma city parks. The city is replacing aging play equipment at several parks. Almost 75 percent of respondents said they don’t use the play equipment.

Here are some comments:

“Follow the lead of Casa Grande Sports Field and prohibit the use of ground up used tire crumbs on the playing field surface.”

“The only park in Petaluma we’re interested in is up at Lafferty. Oh wait, it’s still mired under red tape put there by Kerns, and Rabbitt hasn’t lifted a finger to get it open.”

“Petaluma city parks? How about putting in a little effort in opening Lafferty as a hiking park? No equipment necessary.”

“The parks are too dirty and broken. Also, the homeless create problems. Not the overall best atmosphere for our children.”

“We use McNear Park, Walnut Park and the dog park by Casa Grande near the river.”

“Oak Hill, McNear, dog park, East Washington fields, Prince Park, Luccessi turf field, McDowell Park, Shollenberger are all good.”

“Wiseman Park and Leghorn Park are my favorite for the grandkids to play.”

“McNear, Leghorn, Prince, new soccer fields near the airport, soccer, basketball, baseball fields, tennis courts and play structures, we enjoy them all.”

“We like Wiseman Park, McNear Park, Leghorn Park, Walnut Park and Helen Putnam Park.”
