Casa Grande continued its impressive season, winning its first North Bay League match, 4-1, over Rancho Cotate.

After the teams had played to a 1-1 first-half tie, the Gauchos exploded for three goals in the second half.

After Rancho Cotate scored the first goal, Haley Ingram tied the game with a goal off a header.

Casa Grande took charge in the second half with Haley Iribarne scoring from mid-field and forwards Kayla Ryan and Janelle Schwartz adding insurance goals.

Misty Martinez, Ingram, Iribane and Angelina Gonzalez each had and assist.

Casa Grande is 4-0-2 on the season.

The St. Vincent girlscame alive in the second half to record a 3-1 win over Rincon Valley Christian.

The Mustangs trailed, 1-0, at the half, but rallied in the second half on two goals from Grace Hoebein and another from Dale Leonheart. Lauren Kulsingam provided an assist.

The win was th third straight without a loss for the Mustangs in North Central League II play. St. Vincent is 5-1-1 overall.

BOYS SOCCER

Petaluma stopped Sonoma Valley, 4-0 in an impressive win.

Max Crysdale, Tarwinder Purewal, Dina Santia and Joni de la Torre all scored for th Trojans.

St. Vincent battled Gateway to a 2-2 tie in a match played on the St. Vincent field.

After a scoreless first half, both teams scored twice in the second half. The Mustangs’ goals were by Henry Lane and David Sammon.

The tie gave St. Vincent a 2-1-1 record for the season.

GIRLS TENNIS

Petaluma continued to sweep through Sonoma County League opponents Tuesday afternoon, defeating Sonoma, 6-1, to complete the first round of league play undefeated.

Maddie Thomas, Nicoline Pedersen, Emma Stanfield and Kim Garcia swept through singles play without losing a set.

The Trojans’ No. 1 doubles team of Ada Payne and Hannah Slot and No. 2 team of Grace Davis and Grace Slembrouck also won without losing a set.

That win followed a 7-0 victory over Elsie Allen.

The Trojan singles players - Garcia, Emma Morgan, Payne and Sloth - never lost a single point in recording straight-set wins.

Petaluma doubles duos of Davis and Slembrouch; Kelly D’Ambrogia and Emily Norwood; and AJ Barone and Sierra Mancuso were also straight-set winners.

Casa Grande had little trouble defeating Ukiah, 6-1, in a North Bay League match played on the Casa courts.

Satvika Madali, Sara Geyer, Skyler Genely and Julia O’Keefe all won their singles matches in straight sets.

The Gauchos’ No.1 doubles team of Sandy Yang and Emily Ingram, had to work hard, but defeated the Ukian No. 1 team of Jessica Wong and Malah Capistrano, 2-6, 6-1, 10-6. The Gaucho No. 2 team of Sally Nanez and Danielle Rebulida also won a tough match, 6-4, 0-6, 10-6.

The Gauchos then ran into powerful Maria Carrillo and were beaten, 6-1.

No. 5 singles player O’Keefe was the only winner for Casa, defeating Maria Carrillo’s Brenda Soundra, 7-5, 6-2.

Casa’s No. 3 doubles team of Jenny Evans and Michele Ruiz took their match against Maria Carrillo’s Rea Sheth and Jessica Christensen three sets before losing, 7-5, 3-6, 11-9.

GIRLS GOLF

Emma Dennett took medalist honors with a 44 to lead Casa Grande to a 300-317 victory over Rancho Cotate in a North Bay League match played at Foxtail South.

For the Gauchos, Kerrianne McCarthy and Rose Dagnino each shot a 64, Shelby Athuizen a 64 and Natalie Micco a 65.

Casa Grande suffered a tough loss on its home Adobe Creek course, losing to Santa Rosa, 293-298.

Dennett led Casa with a 46, with Lauren Yee shooting a 62, Dagnino a 67,McCarthy a 56 and Hannah Luiz a 67.

Kara Curry took medalist honors for Santa Rosa with a 42.

Jane Catarozoli took medalst honors with a 46, but it was not quite enough to prevent Petaluma from losing to Healdsburg, 274-279 at Tayman Park.

Tara Thomas shot a 51, Izzy Southard a 55, Jamie Holden a 56 and Millie Lekowitz a 72 for the Petalumans

Back home at Rooster Run, the Trojans faired better against Piner, winning 275-307.

SarahJane Catarozoli led the Trojans with a 47, with Southard shooting a 54, Emily Cheda a 57, Holden a 58 and Thomas a 59.

VOLLEYBALL

With Hannah Barlow setting and Gabbie Banascek attacking, Casa Grande won its first North Bay League match of the season, defeating Rancho Cotate, 25-16, 25-19, 25-17 on the Cougar court.

Barlow provided 17 assists and Banascek had nine kills, with Sadie Welch coming up with eight kills. Annalise Shea served three aces.
