LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Congratulations to Casa’s Ron Petroni
EDITOR: Congratulations to Ron Petroni for being named NCS Honor Coach. He deserves all the adoration and accolades he is getting and more. I had the honor of playing varsity baseball for coach Petroni in 1985 and 1986. He is something special. No son on the team, no politics, no fanfare. He dedicated himself and his time to making you a better player. He made sure you played the right way, and didn’t take any nonsense from anyone. I can still picture him out on the field in his letterman’s jacket with only his name stitched on the front, carrying his fungo bat and an intense look on his face. He always had a twinkle in his eye for you when you did something right.
Congratulations, coach.
By the way, good to see Casa athletic director Rick O’Brien pictured with coach Petroni. O’Brien was the basketball coach at Casa in 1984 - that’s 30 years ago. Let’s not wait another 30 years before we recognize him as well for his dedication to athletics at Casa.
Both are great role models and mentors.
Much respect and thanks for everything coach Petroni.
