St. Vincent ends its season on high note

The St. Vincent High School girls softball team closed out its regular season in big hitting fashion last week, belting Upper Lake, 15-2, and Rincon Valley Christian, 22-4. Both games were terminated after five innings.

The wins closed the books on the North Central League II champion Mustangs’ regular season at 13-8 and a perfect 10-0 in NCL II play.

St. Vincent had just seven hits against Upper Lake, but accepted 15 walks. McKenna Wilson-Kay and Sully Henry and Katelyn DeLaMontanya each had two hits for the Mustangs, with Wilson-Kay and Henry each scoring three runs.

Amanda Yarger pitched four innings for St. Vincent, allowing two runs and four hits with three strikeouts. Roxie Kavanaugh allowed a hit but had two strikeouts in one inning’s pitching work.

St. Vincent had 12 hits and accepted nine walks against Rincon Valley Christian. The Mustangs had 17 RBIs in the game.

Hailey Antonini, Lauren Vollert and De La Montanya each had two hits in the game, with Antonini and DeLaMontanya belting doubles and Jules Sikora a triple. DeLaMontanya drove in four runs and Antonini and Sikora three each.

Yager pitched the five-inning distance, allowing just one hit, with three walks and four strikeouts.
