This week’s California Interscholastic Track and Field Championships will be held without the participation of Petaluma-area athletes.

Petaluma had several strong efforts, but no state-meet qualifiers in last week’s North Coast Section Meet of Champions held at UC Berkeley’s Edwards Stadium.

Casa Grande senior Adria Barich had a strong effort in the girls 1600, finishing eighth in 4 minutes, 57.93 seconds. Her time was the 11th all-time best for an Empire runner.

Petaluma’s Madison Parratt was 25th in the talent-loaded 3200 field, finishing 25th in 11:41.10.

Her teammate, Clare Pierce, was 13th in the shot put at 34 feet, 4 inches.

St. Vincent’s Olivia DeGraca was 20th in the long jump at 15-6.

Petaluma received a good showing from its throwers with Justen Santa unleashing the best discus throw by a Sonoma County League athlete this season, throwing 152-3 to finish seventh. Teammate Travis Plank went 41-1½ to finish 19th in the shot.

Casa Grande’s Zac Esponda, the North Bay League champion, was a strong 11th in the 800 in 1:58.81.

Petaluma long jumper Brendon O’Neill was 22nd with a best leap of 17-5¾.
