REG gymnasts shine in Princess meet

Redwood Empire gymnasts came up with some stellar performances in compulsory Level 3, 4, and 5 competition in the Princess Gymnastics Invitational.|

Redwood Empire gymnasts came up with some stellar performances in compulsory Level 3, 4, and 5 competition in the Princess Gymnastics Invitational hosted by Accel Gymnastics in Burlingame. It was the REG girls’ second competition of the season.

The competition began with the Level 3’s competing, with girls competing from age 6 to age 11.

In the youngest age group, REG had many successes. On the vault, Addison Myhren scored an 8.80 and was fifth, and Hadara Rostocil placed fifth on beam with a 8.45. These two gymnasts are only 6 years old, and competed in their first gymnastics meet ever.

In the middle age group, Georgia Roscha placed second on vault with a 9.25, Jordyn Seaman was fourth on vault with a 8.95, Gwen Brockett was second on bars with a 9.275, Reina Gibbs was first on vault with a 9.275, Jill Kuykendall was third on beam with a 8.925, Ava McCarthy was ninth on bars with a 9.075, Mira Grover was sixth on floor with a 9.175, Nola Valceshini was first on vault with a 9.35, and Soraya Rostocil was fifth on beam with 8.725.

In the older age group, Mariah Affonso was third on the vault with a 9.2. Overall, the Level 3 team took the second place.

The REG Level 4 team took home the first-place team award. Personal achievements included: Lizzy Snyder receiving first all around with a 37.3, and Macey Newbold also receiving first all around in her age group with a 36.925. Other standouts were, in the younger age group, Amelia Cosci, first on beam with a 9.175; Bella Cosci, third on beam with a 9.0; Grace Sheehan, fourth on floor with a 9.150; Layla O’Connor, third on floor with a 9.225; Brooklyn Labo, second on beam with a 9.275; and Jasmine Greenleif-Gibbs, third on bars with a 8.95. In the middle age group, Amelia Krieshok was sixth on floor with a 9.175, Kenzie Marks was third on vault with a 8.575, Haley Fenyves was fourth on vault with a 8.55, Kathryn Samford was seventh on floor with a 8.874 and Sadie Greenberg was second on beam with a 9.25. In the older age group, Isabella Toner-Rodger was fourth on the floor with a 9.025.

The highlights for the Level 5 team included Mia Sereni receiving 2nd place all around with a 36.525 and Megan Popielak receiving 2nd place on beam with 8.825.

The compulsory girls team -coached by Nick Walsh, Tara Lanatti, Maureen Koehler and Greta Leach -will travel to Livermore for their next competition.
