Casa Grande’s boys soccer team got its season off to an impressive start with a 2-0 win over Redwood.

Edwin Ajquiy and Jared Miller scored for the Gauchos.

Girls basketball

Petaluma’s T-Girl basketball team had a difficult time finding the basket in its season-opening game against Drake played in San Anselmo, losing, 44-25.

Petaluma scored just four points in each of the first two quarters and trailed at the half, 29-8. The T-Girls finally got their offense moving in the final period, scoring 15 points, but by then it was much too late.

Nichole Costa led Petaluma with nine points, while senior Marcie George added eight.

The Tomales girls basketball team scored 24 points in the first quarter and never looked back, rolling to a 54-13 win over Potter Valley in a game played last week at Tomales.

Isabel Sartori scored 16 points to lead Tomales with Sammy Strode scoring 12 and Karyne Martin adding 10.
