Trojans take tourney title

Petaluma High’s wrestling team took first place in the Wolf Pack Invitational at American Canyon High School.|

The Petaluma High School wrestling team recorded its biggest win of the season thus far, taking first place in the Wolf Pack Invitational at American Canyon High School.

Petaluma’s championship A team featured three weight-class winners - Connor Pedersen at 126 pounds, Colton Prieto at 145 pounds and Eric Coats at 182 pounds.

Charlie Winter at 113 pounds, Liam O’Niell at 138 pounds, Curtis Goughnour at 152 pounds, Tori Romo at 170 pounds and Dan DeCarli at 195 pounds all finished second.

Jack Reynolds recorded a third-place finish at 132 pounds. Dominic Butts at 120 and Dominic Ayers at 160 were fourth-place finishers, and Joe Grob finished fifth at 106 pounds.

Petaluma’s B team was led by Lucas Cheda’s second-place finish at 132 pounds. Joe Yerlon (138) and Tony Vitali (152) took fourth. Daxton Hogya (126), Derrick Pomi (160) and Sam Saltonstall (182) finished fifth, and Chris Olvera (160) was sixth.

Cindy Diaz at 106 pounds, Alyssa Archer at 121 pounds and Sarah Cook-Marovich at 150 pounds all were weight-class winners for Petaluma in the girls tournament. Citlalle Calderon was fourth at 116 pounds.
