Petaluma High School’s Trojan wrestling team received top-to-bottom outstanding efforts to defeat Healdsburg in a Sonoma County League wrestling showdown last week, completing an undefeated league dual season.

Petaluma got a pin win by Mac Shattuck at 115 pounds and accepted forfeit wins at the three heavy weights (197, 222, 285). Key wins came at 147 pounds, where Tony Vitali pinned Healdsburg’s S. Williams, and 154 pounds, as Curtis Goughnour stopped D. Carrillo with a first-period pin.

Other on-mat winners for Petaluma were Colton Prieto at 140 pounds, Dominic Ayers (160) and Eric Coats at 172 pounds.

Gauchos stopped

Casa Grande forfeited the three heavyweight classes in a 46-22 North Bay League loss to Ukiah.

The Gauchos got pin wins from Dominic Green at 134 pounds and Aaron Krupinsky at 140 pounds. Julian Majano (108) won a major decision and Caleb Wood (154) won a decision, but the forfeits were too much to overcome.

Bridgette Mihalca and Lillian McCoy were pin winners for the Casa girls.
