Casa hits in 10-5 setback

The Casa Grande baseball team raps 10 hits. but it isn’t enough in a 10-5 loss at Campolindo.|

Campolindo’s Cougars rallied for five runs in the fifth inning and made them work for a 10-5 non-league baseball win over Casa Grande last week. Casa out-hit the host Cougars, 10-8, but gave away too many runs.

John Green belted two doubles and had three hits for Casa’s Gauchos, while Hance Smith also had three hits and scored two runs. A five-run Campolindo sixth inning was the difference.

Casa pitchers Chris Joaquim, Brian Kolodin and Brock Burleson were hurt by two costly Casa errors, leading to four unearned runs.

The Gauchos (4-2) played at Maria Carrillo on Wednesday afternoon. Results of that game were not available at press time.
