Trojan track teams win 3-way meet

Sydney Dennis wins four events as Trojans win Sonoma County League tri-meet with both boys and girls.|

Petaluma beat Healdsburg, Sonoma Valley and the weather last week in a Sonoma County League tri-meet held on the Sonoma track.

Petaluma’s varsity boys accumulated 94 points to 41 for Healdsburg and 24 for the host Dragons. The Petaluma girls were even more dominant, piling up 104 points to 36 for Healdsburg and 24 for Sonoma.

Jack Dunbar, Aiden Gilmore and Tony Moeckel were all double winners for the Petaluma boys.

Dunbar won the 800- and 1600-meter runs for Petaluma. Gilmore swept the hurdles, timing 20.17 seconds in the highs and 49.39 in the 300 intermediates. Moeckel led the Trojan field efforts with a 17-foot, 10-inch long jump and a 34-2.5 triple jump. Nathan Hale won the 400 in 55.08. Giani Johnson easily won the high jump at 5-8. Kael Seaver cleared 12 feet to win the pole vault.

Sydney Dennis had a standout meet for the Petaluma girls, winning both hurdles and both the long and triple jumps. Dennis ran 17.58 to win the 100s and came back to take the 300s in 52.22, with teammate Emma Brown second in both. In her spare time, Dennis went 14-11.5 to win the long jump and sailed 33-1 to take first in the triple jump.

Erika Gilmore went fast and high to win the 400 and the pole vault. She beat teammate Miranna Lindberg to win the 400 and won the pole vault at 9-0, the same height cleared by teammate Sallie Hollingshead.

Petaluma also won the 400 relay, running 52.49. Other Petaluma winners were Kelly Sullivan with a 13.08 100, Courtney Bell with a 27.40 200, Maddy Santos with a 69-11.5 discus and Sarah Cook-Markovich with a 26-9 shot put.

Petaluma’s junior varsity boys scored 49 points to 43 for Healdsburg and 38 for Sonoma Valley.

Petaluma winners were Erik Carver (1600), Jeremy Marr (400) and Luke Ronshausen (800).

Petaluma’s JV girls (38) were second, behind Sonoma Valley (52) and ahead of Healdsburg (9).

Ele Burnett and Maya Walker were double winners for Petaluma. Burnett won the 800 and 1600, while Walker was first in the 100 and 200. Other Petaluma winners were Nika Gorman in the 100 hurdles, Maria Armstrong in the 400, Madison Lackritz in the 300 hurdles and Julia Skoff in the high jump.
